Internal audits are an important part of each management system which is based on the PDCA-cycle. Such audits give the management and the audited units an objective image of their own performance. Internal auditors prepare the audit based on data like standards, the management system documentation and the relevant regulations and examine knowledge and onsite implementation.
The audit has to be planned, auditors have to be qualified and they have to be independent of the unit to be audited. The reporting should be in line with standards and cover the goals of the audit. Follow-up measures result from the audit that are aimed at eliminating weak points and achieve a permanent improvement.
As an independent partner I can provide support in any audit in the environmental and energy sector and carry it out for you or in cooperation with your staff.
The standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 mention internal audits. EMAS requires a so-called “Umweltbetriebsprüfung” (environmental audit) in which in which methods are applied which correspond to those of the internal audit but which is more demanding as to its contents. In the audit the environmental objectives and the environmental performance of your company have to be measured and the compliance with regulations has to be verified.
